    This piece measures 2 inches in diameter. This is a ceramic chopstick rest called a Hashioki and it depicts a maneki cat laying on its back while happily smiling.
    Chopstick rest, called Hashioki in Japanese is a rest to lay your chopsticks on so as not to soil the tablecloth or keep them from getting soiled during the meal. Variety of designs and mediums are used and they in turn add a charm to an Asian style dinner setting for the holidays to delight guests. Though they are called Chopstick rests, they are also great for resting a knife as well as a fork. The condition is very good and its age is from the 1990's.
